A Warrior In Need

This just arrived by way of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. I know Wayne Keeney. If you are in a position to help, please do so. Apparently, he is near death.

Wayne R. Keeney, a member of the Connecticut Bar, is in the intensive care unit at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He is in desperate need of a liver transplant due to non-alcoholic liver failure. Wayne is a well-known, courageous member of the criminal defense bar. He is also a former detective, and former New York City police officer and a former member of the United States Marine Corps. He is a loving husband to Valerie Maze Keeney, also a member of the Connecticut bar. Wayne is much beloved by his extended family and his many friends and colleagues in Connecticut, in New York (particularly, Throgs Neck, the Bronx), California, and throughout the United States.

What can I do to help Wayne Keeney?

You may know someone whose family is facing tremendously difficult circumstances with a loved one suffering a terminal illness or on life support due to a terrible accident. In such unspeakably tragic situations where a loved one is facing unavoidable and imminent brain death, families can decide to direct that the liver (or other organs) of their loved one be donated upon death to someone they may not know to bring life to that person, who is desperately in need. Please ask any families you know facing such a dreadful situation in the next few days whether they might direct that a liver be donated to Wayne Keeney at Yale-New Haven Hospital. If so, they can indicate verbally to their doctors that their loved one’s liver “be directed to Wayne Keeney at Yale-New Haven Hospital.“ Blood type O or blood type A donors may be a match for Wayne.

Directed donation is legally authorized by the Uniform Anatomical Gift Act. See www.UNOS.org

Thank you for furthering this gift of life to Wayne R. Keeney. Please pass this message on!
